FAQ
What are your the requirements to teach at LyriCo Conservatory
We welcome experienced performers and educators from a wide range of backgrounds. For some disciplines—like strings, piano, or classical voice—a degree or current enrollment in a music program is often preferred. For others, like guitar, drums, or bass, real-world experience can be just as valuable. We look for professionalism, consistency, strong communication skills, and a passion for teaching.
Do I need to be available full-time to teach here?
Nope! Many of our teachers maintain active performance careers, so we offer flexible scheduling. You choose your regular teaching days, and we build your student roster around that. We just ask that you keep those days consistent week to week.
What kind of students will I be teaching?
You’ll work with motivated students of all ages, from beginners to advanced performers. LyriCo is a place for real performing arts education—not babysitting. We expect our teachers to engage students in meaningful, skill-building lessons rooted in their discipline.
What support does LyriCo provide for its teachers?
We handle all scheduling, billing, and parent communication, so you can focus on teaching. Plus, we offer optional opportunities to learn from your fellow faculty in group settings—free of charge—to help you continue growing as a musician, artist, and educator.
Can I offer my own group classes or special programs through LyriCo?
Yes—we strongly encourage faculty to form student ensembles and group classes. It’s a great way to expand your hours and enrich both LyriCo and the Gainesville arts community. All teaching time is paid, and we offer ensembles to students at a discounted rate to encourage collaboration and creativity.
Do you have any perfomances?
Yes we do! For music students, we have two big events every year (typically one in the winter, and one in late spring). We also offer smaller performance opportunities throughout the year as well. We will surely be adding performances as we get more ensembles organized in the future.
